The last time I blogged I was in Italy, learning how to paint gothic angels...that was a LONG time ago....
So, today I worked on a piece that is the second in a new series, of birds that are in the Northern New Hampshire region. These windows vary in size, and are realistic birds painted onto glass within their habitats. The borders of the windows have a little fun to them, they might contain paintings of feathers, food sources, nests, and eggs or foliage that is something that connects to each bird. Today and yesterday and I am sure tomorrow I will work on a Robin, this one is a curious, fun, bright piece of a robin on a lawn as he is eyeing a worm on the edge of view. The borders are of oak leaves and nests, with thinner borders of eggs, of course in robin's egg blue. I am still undecided about the upper and lower border, my original thought was just a plain color, but then it evolved into a clear, iridescent border that has silhouettes of bugs and worms painted on it. But I am still undecided, and I may just put some different leaves on the border instead.
Also today I found out that there is a glass artist in my area that is packing it in, giving it up, and selling out. That is always so hard to see, but the whole lot is for sale, so I am going to take a look and see if it is worth it to buy the whole of it. If that is the case, I may acquire 2 glass artists' glass and equipment this year. Pretty good first year of business! But at the same time, I hate to see people stop working at artwork, and in these economic times, when we the artists are not making much money, I think we need to keep working just for ourselves, if not for sale. So I continue to do what I do, and I make some "sell-able" work on the side. I found an interesting quote of Winston Churchill's the other day, "If you are going through hell, keep going." I feel that that is the only answer, that we have to keep going, for ourselves, no matter what anyone thinks or buys. But of course we still have to have glass to create with (at least in my case)...So here I am, another day working on the Robin, King of his Lawn, he shall be painted tomorrow. Maybe he will be done by Friday. That would be nice. I am now going to upload the first of the series, the Cardinal.

As I fall, and you turn away.
You walk down corridors miles away from heart.
As I breathe, as I surrender...
I hear the sound of whispering.
